It's #SecondHandSeptember, a campaign run by Oxfam encouraging people across the UK to stop buying new clothes for the month in a bid to cut back on fast fashion.

To tie in with their new campaign, we have chosen some of the best clothes swapping apps and websites in the UK which allow you to donate your unwanted items in return for some lovely second-hand options.

You can also get involved by signing up to Oxfam’s #SecondHandSeptember campaign and take the pledge to buy no new clothes for the month.

As well as swapping via a website or app, you can alternatively set up a clothes swap in your local area. Whether it's with a group of close friends or with a larger organisation, it's a great way to give your unwanted items a new home.

Take a look at the apps and websites below...

1. Swancy App

Norway's newest clothes swapping app has just launched in the UK. It's an exciting way to get your hands on new items of clothing while also being kind to the planet.

All you have to do is download the app, upload your pictures of your items and find other pieces you want to swap with. It works in a Tinder-like style, where you swipe left if you want to skip and swipe right for an item you want to have.

2. Vinted

As well as giving users the opportunity to sell second-hand clothing, Vinted also enables people to swap clothes with one another if they wish. Instead of buying brand new clothes, it encourages everyone to purchase and swap items to help the environment.

3. Swopped

Our constant need for new clothing is dramatically damaging the environment, so this swapping website is a great way for us to do what we can to help. Plus, as well as swapping clothes, they even recycle your old ones. Simply send your clothing over and they will be given a new loving home.

4. Regain

Do you have a wardrobe of clothes you no longer wear? The Regain app will pick up your unwanted clothing (10 items minimum) in return for discount codes, prizes and vouchers. While it isn't directly swapping with one another, they give life to your old clothing and give you a treat in return.

5. Swish Little Kids

Children grow incredibly fast, so swapping clothes with other parents is a great way to save money and also help the environment too. Swish Little Kids enables you to donate a bundle of worn clothes and order your own bag of second-hand goodies too.
